Where the Wild Things are Not

If you are ever tempted to see the movie Where the Wild Things Are, do yourself a favor and track down the book instead. Read it. You will be far more entertained if you do. When I first saw previews of the movie I was excited. It looked like I would truly love to see it. When it finally came out, it had little (okay none that I am aware of) fanfare. Still I wanted to see it.

The One rented it for us to watch last night, thankfully for only a dollar. About twenty minutes into the movie we wanted to turn it off. I was determined to stick through it and we did. Despite the movie being less than decent, it still managed to tug at the heart strings of The One who was in tears (spoiler alert) when the kid leaves the island.

I did not have high expectations. In fact I tempered them down from the initial excitement to expect just an average movie. Maybe I should have tempered them even more. If you need your Wild Thing fix, I am sure The One and I would be more than happy to have a story time session. We will take your dollar rental fee and just spare you the trouble of seeing the movie version.

Until next time, may you be the king or queen of your own island.
