The Waiting Game

I have returned from my back to back trips to San Antonio. Both trips went well, but it is nice to get back to The One. Though, I am not so excited for the return to work. It is not that I do not like my job, but for the past ten days, no matter how busy those ten days were, I was doing something I truly enjoyed doing. Not to mention that after spending roughly half this month away from the office, it will be a slow start as I get reacquainted with what work feels like.

I will have to detail the audition trip in a separate post, something tentatively planned for tonight. That should give me enough time to come up with names for all of my team members. It was a memorable experience. We did not find out if we made it on tour. Apparently, this year, they are involving some very important people in the decision process and we will all have to wait until the 18th of February to find out whether or not we made the tour. It is going to be a long wait. I will have to try to keep myself busy and distracted until then.

I am not sure where I stand as far as being selected. I did what I expected to do in what auditions I was aware of. There were a lot of people there, and half of us will not make the tour. I would like to think that would make it a coin flip, but there are more vocalist than there are other performers. There will be about fifteen vocalist selected, making it a very select group of people that do make tour. If I do not make it this year, I am thinking of trying out again in a couple of years. The tour itself seems like something I would really enjoy and a chance to grow as a performer. I will just have to see where life takes me.

Here and Gone

I have been erratic in my postings for quite some time now. Mostly because I have not been glued to the computer as much as I was when I started. Before it was the first move I made after getting up to let Dog out. Now that is only true when I have to get to work. Weekends, I am starting to actually sleep past eight. I will wake up, let Dog out and then either return to bed or go to the couch. I am generally pleased that I am not chained to my computer, though it is only because I have other things that call my attention. My phone and my 360 have done a wonderful job distracting me over the last month or so.

With me leaving this Wednesday for a conference and then only briefly returning before leaving again for The Tour, do not be expecting too many posts past tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to both trips, though there is some downside. For the third month in a row, I am leaving The One; she will remain here while I tend to my business. This time will be longer than the last two, and will be for very different purposes. I will return though to her awaiting arms before the end of this month. One person I will not return to is my good friend BoBo. He will be moving on north while I am away.

Single Digit Weather, Unnecessary

The Thunder game was awesome! Yes, it was a loss; but, it was close and a lot of fun to be there. One of the things I applaud the Thunder in doing is always having something for the crowd. Our seats were amazing too. We were placed in the corner behind the Hornets bench; about a half court shot away. Amazing. Speaking of close, our hotel was right next door. That was nice to have as the back door was close by when the weather took a turn. It was a wonderful gift. Thank you The One, I love you.

Seriously, single digit weather is just unnecessary. When the cold front hit, during the game, it was set to be worse with ice coming in. So much in fact schools were closing through Friday. Nothing much happened in the way of ice, but it did freeze. My trusty phone tells me it is a whopping five degrees outside. And here I am about to leave for the gym.

I am looking for a way to post away from home. I am about to take a trip that will have me out for fifteen days. It would be nice to update while I am out there. I have found a couple of apps that allow me too; I just do not know whether or not I fully trust a third party to assist. I will be reading up on Android apps to see what I can possibly find.

Game Time

I am very excited! After leaving work around noon, The One and I will be heading to Oklahoma City to watch an Oklahoma City Thunder game! We are going to check into our hotel, which is conveniently right next door, and have fun in the City. It should be a really fun time. I am happy that we are staying the night, and we both have off tomorrow.

It appears we, the Redskins, have a new coach. If the partnership between Shanahan, Allen and Snyder can work for more than a few years, I think the fans will remain happy. It will be interesting to see who comes and goes this year. If we get a rookie quarterback to start I am sure expectations will be tempered, if not I would not be surprised to see if expectations are set a bit lofty. It is certainly a rebuilding process either way.

A Return to Normalcy

After an extended break from work, it is time to return to the grind. That does mean that I will return to a more consistent posting schedule now that I will be back in my routine. It has been wonderful having all this time off, nearly a full two weeks, and I wish I did not have to return. Alas, unless I win the lottery I will have to continue this grind for sometime. Working is not all that bad, but when compared to not having to do it, I would much rather just relax. Not to mention, I will be shaving for the first time since I have been off.

The break was not only much needed, but it was time well spent. From my trip to Iowa, to the New Year's Eve party that was a success, to the days of relaxation afterwards I had a wonderful time. To continue my time away from work, I should only work a partial day tomorrow and should be off on Thursday leaving today and Friday my only full days this week. Boy, will I be in trouble next week when I will actually have to experience a full work week; that has not happened since the second week of December.
